    Hello everyone,

I'm going on vacation tomorrow for more than twoo weeks. So I would not be able to post singing videos this week. I hope I can do it later.

It was fine for me to share  thoughts and music with each other !

I will continue to look at your posts this week.

Thank you, Heidi, for the organisation of this challenge !

    Have a nice summer !

    Kisses from Belgium

    Patricia

I hope you have a wonderful and restful vacation.

My family on my mother's side is from Belgium. One set of my great-great grandparents  immigrated from Belgium at the end of the 19th century/beginning of the 20th century.

Wishing you a lovely vacation! Thank you so much for sharing and being such an encouraging singer. It's such a pleasure watching your work! Looking forward to hearing your beautiful voice again soon - hopefully some of those American songs :)

I think the next song on my to do list is "Look! through the port comes the moonshine astray!" from Billy Budd (Britten).  Tonebase has a great tutorial on this aria and it is quite helpful.

I was going to share a bit of "I Love All Graceful Things," but have had a pretty substantial asthma exacerbation after a brief upper respiratory infection, so am not singing at the moment. I'll come back this weekend to share some thoughts. This has been a great TWI. Thank you,

       I'm finally feeling better. Yay!

Regarding discoveries: I've always loved singing, but the depth of that love has increased recently, coinciding with this TWI. It's as though I am beginning to see how much there is for me to sing. I always knew there was a lot of repertoire (not that I knew much about it!), but had not considered that it was something that I could or would sing. That thinking has changed as I'm eagerly discovering all these different sides to my voice and I'm thinking more and more, "I could sing that...." I can't explain what this means to me, except to say that it's as though there's this part of my heart that's finally been able to find its way out and I feel lighter and "more" than I did even just a month ago.

I know exactly what you are talking about - it's the best part of my job (seeing people "find" THEIR voice). There is a sense of limitless possibility. So excited for all of your discoveries!!

Here is my list of pieces I would love to learn

    1.  Largo al factotum- Barber of Seville

    2. Modern Major General- Gilbert and Sullivan - would be a great party trick

    3. O Nadir-The Pearl Fishers-Bizet

    4. Ha Gia Vinta- Marriage of Figaro-Mozart

I am thinking of these for audition pieces

In the Chat today I noted a sight singing app that I like to use.  It is called Sight Singing Pro -I  have attached a photo of the app below.  It is interactive and allows you to train solfège as well as test to see if you are on the right pitch as you go through the exercises.  It has helped me a lot.
