Here's my first installment, reading the poem (inspired by Heidi's livestream today on character development:

And here I am singing it. I felt like I ran out of steam at the end and rushed the middle, and I'm thinking I could improve my [u] vowel, but it's good to see where I am. I'd love any feedback. Thank you!

    On the spoken reading...
That is absolutely BEAUTIFUL diction - wonderfully pronounced and expressively spoken. Well done. The ONLY note (and I am splitting hairs here) is I would love to hear the difference in the "ch." (see attached). Derrick Goff's German diction course has a great explanation of this. That said.. this was a WOW for me. Wonderful work.

    -------------------

    On the lip trill..

Quite good. To take it up a notch, think about really supporting through the phrases with your lower abdominal wall. Work toward that consistent connection.

    ---------------------

    On the whistle...

This is such an interesting approach (I've never seen someone literally use a whistle). It works well as an SOVT exercise and helps you connect to your upper harmonic while you are practicing. Fascinating!!

    ------------------

    On the piece, in general

Beautiful work. Now find a great accompanying track (or Appcompanist) to use, so you can respond to the piano and integrate that into your overall performance (that will also help you stay in tune).

In general.. I love that you started with the expression. It really carried through everything that you did and that is the most important part of an effective performance. Truly impressive interpretation on this and your tone quality is just getting better and better. So much fun to watch your hard work really paying off in such a short period of time. This is going to be a wonderful addition to your recital!

Thanks so much for your detailed feedback! I deeply appreciate it.

I'm glad you liked my expression: it's what I live for, and this song is especially meaningful to me: it's a love song that thrills my heart and mind and has me thinking of the love I have for my wife, with whom I celebrated 22 years of marriage yesterday.

I will look at the ch: there are indeed different ones in German, and I look forward to watching and listening to Derrick's course.

And I have appcompanist; I'll add a track with me singing to it.

Congratulations! That just might explain why you have such a beautiful sensibility when you sing "Widmung" :)
