Development of singing voice from beginnings, folk and period time lines and examples

Hi Heidi

Thanks for the informative live stream today 17 September 2025...about the Tonebase Voice platform. It's really helpful!... Good to put on introduction page for new members ๐Ÿ˜€.

... I found it helpful, just starting to look at the platform...

I started watching from the Baroque period videos.... I really enjoyed your and others singing. Music seemed to have been formed in a organised style then  I was  thinking that was the start of singing.,.. obviously not! ..... Can you please explain what Baroque period relates to... Ie organised church singing and music?

I want to learn and appreciate the world history and development of human singing and music sure it came with human sapiens vocal chords.....

Could you please link material if already done ... Or do a module or live stream explaining the history and development of singing if it is known...   I know it's a  big ask. But great it the Voice platform could cover and include one day....

Yes!!! I will absolutely add a stream on the evolution of Western vocal music. There is A LOT there :) But to get you started, Baroque music refers to a time period in music history. We generally think of the progression as follows:

    Medieval

    Renaissance

    Baroque

    Classical

    Romantic

    20th Century

    Modern

Each of these periods have very specific trends and styles associated with them. As you watch some of the repertoire courses on these styles, you may start to discover that there are certain voices that seem to be more suited to certain composers and eras than others. See if you can spot some trends ;)
