passaggio frustration.
When I would sing a hymn in church as a solo, straight out of the hymn book, the pianist would say its too high for me and change the key which was fine. but when I got into lessons, I came to find out this was my passagio. As much experience and lessons I have i have similar issues. An aria i was working on in the summer felt too high for me but a new aria is higher than this and I'm doing pretty well.
I got negative comments from a couple friends lately that the piece didn't suit my voice. A friend suggested that piece for my voice though when I was lost with what rep to study.
I always thought I was a mezzo but my teacher thinks I am not a mezzo and a soprano. I always thought I was since I sing soprano 2 in choirs.
I am realistic about myself and my voice but I feel down. these comments are unsolicited

Heidi recently did a very good Live stream on vocal registers. Watch this out: https://app.tonebase.co/voice/live/player/vox-understanding-and-shifting-fach
P.s. It's difficult for everyone of us to give sincere advice on your voice if you don't show off and sing in the community concerts 😅
Ciao! 🌞😎✌🏻

it seems that you've stumbled on one of the most frustrating aspects of the female voice (men have passaggio issues, but usually not nearly as frustrating and obvious as women). And MANY people who don't have the best grasp of how the voice and range works give less than helpful advice (like change the key or this doesn't suit your voice/range). Remember that your voice isn't a fixed thing. The anatomy is only one piece of a complex system. You have a lot of control over how you USE your voice and you can make some amazing discoveries in your singing just by recognizing that. I'm so glad to hear that you have joined our vibrant community. We can't wait to help you and encourage you on this wonderful journey :)
