Practicing beau soir

Hi !    Here I am practicing beau soir by Debussy .  The hardest parts for me are the first note (getting into the piece ) and the middle when it gets faster, I tend to loose track of a lot .      Happy to hear some ideas

What a BEAUTIFUL voice you have!! Such a purity in the tone and this piece suits you so well. in terms of taking this to the next level. I would focus on the structure of the body that is supporting that lovely sound. Make sure that you are standing with a supported neutral posture and work to have a sense of grounding (especially through your lower body). Getting more of your body involved in the sound will give you a stronger foundation and create more space for the breath to anchor. As far as getting lost in the middle section, my advice would be to read and count the music (speaking it in rhythm with the text) WHILE you are listening to the accompanying track. This will help you build your rhythmic relationship and help you track the conversation with the piano. Once you feel comfortable doing that, start to look at the piano accompaniment. Depending on your level of musicianship this may feel overwhelming. That's okay. You are learning to track and create visual associations to sound (afterall, that is what reading is ;). Take your time with this process and give yourself grace. You truly do sound so beautiful.. angelic even. Thank you so much for sharing this. Listening to you sing was a lovely way to start my day! Keep going!!

Thank you, Margaret. I can feel you imbuing the words with meaning.

The end of your first phrase could be clearer (after <<lorsqu'au soleil couchant>>).

I feel myself sometimes wanting you to sing out more.

When you sing piano, it's gorgeous.

The ending is beautifully rendered. Again, I felt your words there could be clearer, particularly <<nous au tombeau.>>

    Your accent sounds good!
